Stion photovoltaic modules are made with a piece of glass and applying several very thin layers of materials that form a semiconductor. One of these layers absorbs light and converts that light into electricity. This layer is called the “absorber.” The energy of the absorbed light excites electrons which become the electric current that is generated from the module.
A second piece of glass is applied to the top of the thin layers to protect them from the outside elements like rain, dirt, and snow. Electrical connections, such as plugs, are added so that the modules can be hooked up to a power network and electricity can then be delivered to your home or office.
